EduNet World Association e.V. is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to engineering education and Vocational Education 4.0 worldwide. Founded in Vienna in 2017 and registered as an association under German law, it has its office in Düsseldorf. The association connects engineering education institutions with industry in the fields of electrical engineering, automation technology and information technology, and is currently the only international association that covers vocational and academic education within one system.

Mission

• Promoting engineering education and Vocational Education 4.0, with a focus on electrical engineering, automation technology and information technology.

• Supporting international cooperation between educational institutions and industry.

• Organising practice-oriented and application-oriented teaching and training programmes.

• Creating development opportunities for professionals in academic and vocational education.

Functions

• Coordinating members' participation in international education projects, in particular under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

• Organising international conferences and forums, including the International Conference on Smart Technologies & Education, which the association co-hosts.

• Promoting standardisation and assessment of industrial education content.

• Supporting cooperation among member institutions and the sharing of resources and good practice.

Membership

The association has two levels of membership. Core members pay membership fees and take part in the association's day-to-day work, including voting and elections. There are currently 32 core members from 12 countries, comprising 20 universities, 3 vocational education institutions, 3 companies and 6 individual members; two core member institutions are located in China. Partner members are institutions that have joined the EduNet initiative, currently around 150 universities in 37 countries, among them 26 universities in China. The membership network spans Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

Governance

The association is led by a board elected by the general assembly for a term of five years, consisting of a president, a vice-president and three further board members. A general assembly is held once a year.

International projects and conferences

The association takes part in and supports education and training projects under Erasmus+: TATU provided automation technology training for Ukrainian universities from 2017 to 2020; ETAT strengthened the technical qualifications of Thai universities in Industry 4.0, industrial automation and smart production from 2020 to 2023; ETATEI provides education and training in automation technology for Ethiopian industry from November 2023 to November 2026. The International Conference on Smart Technologies & Education, co-hosted by the association, brings together educators, researchers and industry experts each year.

China and the representative office in Henan

The association has cooperated with partners in China for many years. In 2025 it established EWA Office China (Henan), registered with the Henan Provincial Department of Public Security. The office supports international academic cooperation, education-industry integration, technology development, educational exchange and assessment, practical training and school-enterprise cooperation platforms.
